I listen to a lot of podcasts in the course of a week. One of the regular shows I listen to is This American Life. This week’s show is entitled “housing crisis in the United States of America. It does a great job of explaining how screwed up this whole problem is. It’s worth the listen.
My father-in-law is in the real estate business and certainly benefited on the rise in the early 2000’s. But nothing is moving now. The effect on the rest of the world is not fully known yet but the credit crunch and unstable housing market in the USA is bound to have ramifications that we have not fully realized yet.
Understanding how we got here is pretty interesting!

What Would Jesus Podcast is talking about “The Social Impact of Ice Cream Trucks” tonight.
Scott Wilder and myself will be talking about ice cream trucks. Yes that’s right. We are not afraid to take on the hard hitting issues of our time. What do you think of the ice cream truck in your neighborhood? Have you ever heard the tune of the Good Humor truck and rushed from your house half dressed with a handful of change? Is this a zoning issue? A commercial business on wheels in a residential zone?
Tune in to TalkShoe, LIVE, on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 9:30PM EDT(-4UTC) and find out what Scott and I think! I’m looking forward to you joining us for this discussion!

If you can’t join us LIVE then be sure to listen to a recording. It should show up overnight or into Friday morning.

If you didn’t know it from my Last.fm profile, I am a voracious podcast consumer. Yesterday I listened to This American Life from Chicago Public Radio. They release a weekly show that covers a topic in three or four acts. The topics are right out of everyday life. Sometimes they are very funny, sometimes more serious, always well done and thought provoking. This week’s show is entitled “Return to Childhood 2008″. It follows four people as they revisit their past and relate stories from their childhood. It got me thinking about my past, my childhood and the people I have lost contact with. this show and other events yesterday has got me wanting to catch up. So in the next several days I a hoping to send out a lot of emails and letters to people I haven’t spoken with in too long. And maybe I will go hunting for a few people I’m curious about.
